The sustainability of these ambitious projects requires a steady source of locally-generated revenues. We have initiated micro-enterprise projects, which have dual purposes...
The Learning Village campus is a constantly productive environment. Our many acres of land nurture high agricultural yeids, flocks of cows and other animals, and flowers that support beekeeping. These endeavors, and the ongoing expansion of our scope, employ many workers. We even have a full-time carpenter, and an on-site shop where we sell the produce we grow to the community. Local women sew medical scrubs and sheets, cook meals for our children, and produce jewelry to earn funds to support and educate their children in our school. We recognize that investing in women is key for raising the quality of life for developing communities, because women use their incomes to support their families and neighbors. For the women of our community, we have a year-long handicraft program that includes rotations of practical vocational training courses such as jewelry production, sewing, embroidery, and/or crochet. |
